We will explore my Lacework technique, and my serendipitous Oooze! technique, along with Fusing, Foiling and Forming Friendly Plastic, twisting and shaping it to form fabulous adornments for you and your Christmas tree. It will be up to you to choose whether to make tree decorations or jewellery or a mixture of both, but I will guide you all the way.

I am not restricting it to that, and I have other projects up my sleeve, but I want to see how you get on with this little lot before I introduce you to more ideas.

Anglo Danish Friendly Plastic
Two day course with Barbara Lees, Karin Schmidt and Liz Welch at Rufford Craft Centre in Nottinghamshire
This is an extraordinary chance to learn from the very talented Danish Friendly Plastic experts Barbara Lees and Karin Schmidt and myself in a special 2 cay course. You will be able to take both workshops so you won’t miss a thing. Barbara and Karin have developed their own unique take on Friendly Plastic and they utilise different tools to create stunning contemporary jewellery. Using inexpensive materials including Friendly Plastic we will take our inspiration from medieval times and create contemporary jewellery which will stand out from the crowd.
No experience is necessary to enjoy moulding and shaping the limitless variations and interpretations on the theme. We will use Friendly Plastic, gilding flakes, and transfer foils, beads, wire and more.
You will want to wear your jewellery on the way home and take with you more pieces to make up plus a head full of ideas to explore further.
The medium is lightweight and can be reused and recycled repeatedly, making it an economical addiction to develop!
Cost: £49 to include all materials and use of equipment

Most classes can be booked directly with the venue. Prices vary depending on the venue. Class sizes are not large, so places are limited, but you do get lots of attention!

RESCHEDULED FOR 20TH JULY due to illness
Love Hearts – Beautiful pendants or even card toppers made with old lace and Friendly Plastic. If you have never used this medium before, you will be amazed at its versatility and delighted with the textures and designs you can achieve. We will make a number of pendants (or card toppers) using different techniques, and I will show you how to put two hearts together to make reversible pendants as well as making coiled wire head pins to finish off your pieces. The class kit will include enough materials to make 3 or 4 pendants using different materials and a variety of techniques (£6). Deciding which pendant to use for a gift might be a problem!

Little Book Of Secrets – As seen on Create and Craft TV – Tied with a Friendly Plastic bead trimmed ribbon, this charming little book is fun to create. Not only do you learn how to make the covers from Friendly Plastic using joining , texturing and colouring techniques, you also learn how to fold and cut the pages inside. Requirements list provided. (no class pack but participants will need to purchase some FP – I bring plenty to choose from)

Talking Texture – Explore different ways of creating texture in Friendly Plastic, and the effects that different colouring techniques can have on the outcome. We will make tiles and fragments of textured Friendly Plastic that are lightweight and easy to add to your textile or papercrafting projects. Whether you want bright and shiny, rusty old metal or, anything in between, I will show you how to achieve your desires! Makes fabulous embellishments for bags, cards, and art pieces.

25th September Beautiful Buttons Big and Bold
10am – 4pm Techniques based class
Learn how to make unique buttons for your textile projects using Friendly Plastic. From simple bold shapes to complex patterns and styles; flat backs, shanks, balls, toggles and more. A great introduction to using this amazing modelling medium – a perfect beginners class, but good for improvers too. NB these hand made buttons require hand washing only.

17th November Fabric Beads and Friendly Plastic
10am – 4pm Guided Project
Create beautiful jewellery using a fabulous fusion of fabric and Friendly Plastic. Learn how to make fabric beads and compliment them with Friendly Plastic bead caps and spacer beads. You should make enough beads to create a necklace and earring set. No previous experience necessary.

4th December Chiffon and Lace
10am – 4pm Guided Project
Make a charming and delicate little bag from gathered organza embellished with hand or machine embroidery, the handles and structure are created using Liz’s special Lacework technique in Friendly Plastic. Perfect as a gift or just for your own pleasure. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Hello Laura, I was just putting new dates on the blog right now. I do not have too much that is open to everyone at the moment, but if you can get to Lingfield in Surrey then I am at the Craft Barn. Alternatively you could work on getting a few people together and I can come to you.
